UniKey announced that its Touch-to-Open™ technology and smart access control cloud now integrates with the Nest Learning Thermostat™ through the Works with Nest program. Kwikset® Kevo™, the market-leading smart lock, is the premier product powered by UniKey to work with Nest, allowing users to set Nest Home and Away modes, along with temperature settings, through the Kevo app.

UniKey’s Touch-to-Open technology allows the user to unlock the door with just a touch, keeping the smartphone in a pocket or purse. Upon unlocking, Kevo will send the user’s preferred temperature to the Nest Thermostat, turning on Home Mode. After locking the door to leave, Kevo communicates with Nest, automatically setting Away Mode. UniKey’s access control cloud platform enables the Nest Thermostat to know who has arrived home and therefore set personalized temperature preferences as defined by the individual Kevo user.

“Our technology already makes everyday life easier; by joining the Works with Nest program, UniKey can bring even more benefits and personalization to our users,” said Phil Dumas, UniKey Founder and President. “As we expand partnerships and markets, new products can be integrated with Nest to create further opportunities for energy savings, personalization and convenience. Through our partnerships with global market leaders in their respective industries, UniKey technology is moving beyond the front door in 2015.”

Rapidly taking concept to reality, UniKey’s platform brings increased smart access functionality to any lock by licensing its technology to manufacturers. By integrating with Nest, enhanced user experience can be brought to any Powered by UniKey product, enabling users to benefit from climate personalization and energy savings.
